Not funny looking at all Eric!
Very nice indeed.
At first glance I thought you might have just turned up the red channel, but I also see some nice blue stars in there, so the colour balance looks right.
Nicely framed and sized too
I miss imaging

Good to see you imaging again Eric. You've captured some great detail in this image. I think the modded camera really boosts the red channel therefore colour balance is out. I found in PS, that increasing the R channel black point to around 30 points brought back more O, B and A type stars in your image providing a more aesthetic view. The trade off with this is black clipping. All R, G and B channels are black clipped in this image so increasing the R channel black point is going to clip more nebulosity.
Overall, I like the image composition. Well done.

Very nice, the UHCS really brings out that emission nebulae doesnt it
Looks pretty good on my screen Eric, actually very good, glade to see you back at the scope and settled in to your new place.

Yes, the red channel is very strong and as a result has thrown the balance out. When looking at the histogram (attached), this is evident. The R, G and B histogram channel counts ideally should be around the same levels. (To clarify, in PS, histogram counts are the vertical reference or the quantity of pixels in a level. A level is the number of scales based on 8-bit or 16-bit. As your uploaded image is 8-bit it has 0-255 levels. 0 to the far left and 255 to the far right - this is the horizontal reference).
By using levels for the R channel only, you can restore balance, but at the expense of clipping. You can see that the data is already black clipped in all channels. (This could be due to light pollution). Hope this makes sense, if you need me to explain further, let me know. I think its just the modded DSLR that makes things a little tricky to balance.

cheers leo and scott.
thanks jase for your informative post. I see where you are coming from. Will definitely loose alot of details in the red channel if i lower it. unless i can increase the green/blue channel might help?
