I was lucky enough to be able to see the whole thing from my 4th floor balcony. Had a friend round for dinner and set up my Dob, my Megrez 90 and my Canon 10D with 100-400m lens and 1.4x converter on fixed tripod.

My sequence ends just after the end of totality as I felt it was time to be more sociable. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

I started off using ISO400 and then went to 800 during totality. Noise Ninja was used afterwards and some minor levels tweaking, but I didn't touch the colour.

Beautiful sequence, Morton! Very well captured, nice and sharp and a nice composite.

Great sequence and exposures Morton!

Didn't have any optical aid myself as I was at a meeting in Randwick, but we had a couple of breaks in the proceedings to go out and look at the eclipse. Everyone was suitable impressed - hopefully also with my description of what it'd be like viewing the event from the Moon.

Thanks Mikes!

Because I was using a fixed tripod I was limited with exposure length, so my totality shots are darker than many others, although I think they reflect fairly accurately how it looked to the naked eye.

I resized all my shots before I made up the sequence. At full size, they're really not sharp enough, and my old 10D is fairly noisy at ISO800 in the dark. Still, the sequence looks good to me. The experts can do all the sharp close-up shots!
