A few Eclipse shots from Oberon

Well I thoroughly enjoyed the eclipse tonight even if my attempts at photography were not all successful.:thumbsup:

Here's a few of the photos I took with the Oly E-510. I also have some Toucam images up until the umbral phase but then it all got too hard!:rolleyes:

I plan to do a much larger stack of the wide angle shots to show the path and colour change of the eclipse - I've just stacked a few to start with. The "close-ups" aren't very!:P I decided to take some shots at 150mm with the E-510 once the ToUcam side of the project folded and the moon exited the FOV of my widefield stack.

Well done Al! I like the idea of the first widefield shot, having normal exposures with longer ones to get those nice reflections in the lake!!!

OK, here's a quick and dirty wide field stack of the eclipse. I shot in RAW+JPG. This is stacked from the JPGs only, no processing other than to stack, mask, flatten, resize and save for web.

Here's what I managed to achieve of my planned collage.:rolleyes: Unfortunately I underestimated how dark the umbral phase would be, so having the ToUcam on a camera tripod rather than piggy backed on my scope meant I ran into real difficulties getting enough light without movement of the moon and noise from high gain... not to mention just being able to get the moon back in the field of view again when frames are 1 to 5 seconds long!:doh::lol: Well, I learned something from it. Next total eclipse will be a different story!:whistle:

Captured with the ToUcam, Mogg adapter, Zuiko 100mm f/2.8 lens, Tamron 2x Teleconverter, UV/IR filter and K3ccdtools. Stacked and light wavelets in Registax 4. Collage assembled in PS CS3.

I've finally got around to reprocessing my eclipse montage. Attached are two versions. My original composite was assembled by stacking and masking, which is fiddly and you have to be a bit careful to be accurate on each image of the moon.

These ones I assembled using the Apply Image command and selecting Lighten as the blending mode. Much quicker and gives a better result I think!:thumbsup: Done in PS CS3, of course! No other processing other than save for the web.
