Hi everyone,

Here are the final more or less scientific versions of all those desperate attempts to get some good images of Mercury during the latest weatherwise very uncooperative apparition :mad2:.

The first one is:

http://www.erwinvandervelden.id.au/mercury050429br.htm

The end results are in the right column

The second attempt, and the only one made under good conditions:

http://www.erwinvandervelden.id.au/mercury050506brncs.htm

11 consistent surface features can be determined on these images, don't ask me what they are because nobody knows for sure until Messenger arrives.

The other observations were too unreliable to make official versions out of it, I can send single images out to anyone who is interested. These dates are 2005/04/25, 2005/05/03 and 2005/05/04.

Cheers,

Erwin

Amazing images Erwin!

I can't wait to see Steve's either - he said he got some good results but can't post them yet as he's writing up a paper about it.

Look forward to seeing more from you!

Having recently joined this forum, have not seen these before, these are sensational images.

Erwin, what set up are you using to capture these images with your SCT and VestPro Camera? i.e. is it eye piece projection straight to the camera and if so what what eyepiece and focal length? any filters?
