For a while now I have wanted to photograph this object, but when I did it tended to cross the meridian, which I don't like to photograph around due to flips. So I gave it a test run with the 8" scope. Moon near by...

nice image Andrew, interesting star pattern on the bright star? would that have been because of the moonlight?

Not sure how that is caused, but I only ever seem to get it on the Newt. The main 4 spikes are from the spider, but the others, got no idea.

nice going Andrew! what are the details of the image?
unusual diffraction pattern there, maybe the inside of your camera adapter
is doing that? or focuser?

hi Andrew,
verys nice shot! I like this golden color touch in the cluster.
as for the star pattern around the bright star.
to me it looks like there is a vignetting or any kind of obsturction within the lihght path - perhaps you might wanna check that.
