Hi
New to the forum. Was wondering if it is possible to find pics of the moon for August - here on this site or anywhere. Am in Brisbane and my daughter was supposed to draw daily pics of the moon for a school project and with moving house and all of the other stuff that goes with it we missed a lot of days.
Any suggestions where I can go to get this info would be most appreciated
Thanks

Hi Debbie.
How detailed are the drawings to be? Just showing the phase the Moon had reached? Or trying to show some surface detail?

Hi Eric
No detail at all, just the phase for each day
Thanks

If she is really keen you can download Virtual Moon Atlas, set you longitude and latidude (153 deg and 27 deg would be close enough) and go back to the start of August and copy each day as you progress through and paste into Paint and save.
The other way is to go to a newsagent or bookshop and get Astronomy 2007. It shows the phases of the moon for each day of the year on the inside of the front cover. The rest of the book is full of pretty useful info as well ;)

According to another of my planetarium programs, Starry Night Pro 6, just in case Teacher is going to check that your daughter actually saw the Moon for each observation she may present in her homework, here are the Rise & Set times at 5 day intervals for August 2007.
Date: ------- Moon Rise:
01 Aug ----- 7:36pm
05 Aug ----- 11:53pm
10 Aug ----- 04:13am
15 Aug ----- 07:30am
20 Aug ----- 09:56am
25 Aug ----- 2:05pm
30 Aug ----- 7:30pm
Date: ------- Moon Set:
02 Aug ----- 08:26am
06 Aug ----- 10:48am
10 Aug ----- 2:31pm
15 Aug ----- 7:31am
21 Aug ----- 12:01am
26 Aug ----- 04:28am
31 Aug ----- 07:31am
Note that on some days, the Moon sets the next day from when it rises.
Cheers
Dennis
PS - don't forget to account for the cloudy nights too!
