A couple of good piccies there, David, in particular the one of Skaife in silhouette. I used to be a mad keen motor sport photographer in my younger days (Catalina, Oran Park, Warwick Farm, Annangrove, Bathurst - with the odd sortie to Sandown and Lakeside). All on film of course. In those days I used a Yashica with, generally, a 300mm fl lens attached. It was heavy but, crikey, it didn't half turn out good photos.
Ah well, those days are long past. Can I cry now? :(

Catalina? I love that old circuit (Katoomba, Blue Mountains, NSW). I walked around it a little while ago and marvelled at the skill required of the drivers to negotiate it at speed. It's narrow and there are some wicked corners and, being in the mountains, some fantastic rises and dips. Great old track - pity to see it in the overgrown state that it is.
Bring back Bob Jane!!
Pictures look pretty good. I like the framing on some a lot. If you can, try panning. The cars look stopped. Slow down the speed and follow the cars, it'll give a nice impression of speed with the tires moving and the background moving with the car, sharp.

Ah, so many memories, Chris. Catalina was a lovely circuit and one of which I have many fond memories. Standing on Craven A corner looking down into the topless vehicles and watching the drivers as they controlled their cars; David McKay, Lex Davison and others battling out the open wheeler races; Lorraine Hill in her Lotus 7 and, never to be forgotten, the sound of Norm Beechy's Galaxy reverberating around the area.
Unlike others I'm not a bash and barge man and certainly don't watch motor racing for the vicarious pleasure of witnessing crashes. Nevertheless I will never forget Max Stahl's monumental moment of grief as he turned into the approach to Craven A. Heaven only knows how high the car went but we spectators on the other side of the gully saw his Holden doing a strange pirouette just above the trees. Frightening stuff. Max survived, his car didn't.
Sitting on 'The Rock' at the end of the straight watching George Murray fling his special into the corner at the end of the straight was stirring stuff.
I'll shut up now.
PS
'Annangrove' as mentioned in my previous post means Amaroo. Just for clarification purposes.
