Hi All,
I'm considering buying a Pentax 50mm f1.4 lens for daytime and astro work.
There seems to be 2 available purchase options.
1.New (plastic) automatic SMC FA lens
http://www.pentax.com.au/pentax/index.cfm?pageID=4&modelID=29&CFID=719&CFTOKEN=31738682

or...

2. Older SMC M or A metal 50mm f1.4 lenses found on ebay and around the traps. For example...

Question is there any difference in the optical quality of these 2 available lenses? Or is the cost of the newer Pentax lens really all wrapped up in the autofocus capabilities and funky design!!??
All specs look similar in each lens too!
New lens rrp's for around $330AU, ebay price for older lens $100AU+ for a goody.
Any experiences greatfully recieved.
Cheers
