Now that I have my 15" truss dob this scope isn't going to get used so hopefully it can go to a good home.

This scope is the flagship in the Vixen apochromat range. Made in Japan its a superior example of an ED refractor.
The focuser is rack and pinion but don't let that put you off as its about the nicest example of an r&p out there and far superior to those commonly seen on Chinese refractors.

Specs:

D=115mm F=890mm (f/7.7) ED Apochromatic Design
OTA Dia = 125mm Len=940mm Weight 4.4kg
Vixen 7x50 finderscope
Vixen 1.25" flip mirror diagonal supplied.
OTA fitted with a metal carry handle (attached to mount ring)

The scope is unmarked except for some marks on the mount dovetail for obvious reasons, and on the finderscope where the mount locating screws bear against the finders tube (unavoidable).

Asking $2500 + ship (sells new for $3865 with 2x LV eyepieces)

If it doesn't sell at this price I'll keep it

I forgot to mention here that the eq5 mount is also for sale, but not separately unless the scope sells first.

Reduced to $2500+ ship. This is a Japanese made 115mm apo with dovetail, finder, mount rings and flip mirror diagonal. :eyepop:

Available comparable scopes cost much more!
The Skywatcher Pro ED120 (Chinese optics) sells for $4795 OTA only at Bintel and $4516 at Myastroshop.

Hi Geoff

I was very tempted, but I already have a Vixen 4" ED F9 refractor and so logically, my next move up would be to a 5" (127mm) refractor.

Cheers

Dennis

Been staring at too much expense lately is all - it's an interesting scope - just too much workout of the budget :)

Thanks guy. Finally some interest expressed at least. I was starting to wonder if theres some reason unknown to me why a nice Vixen apo wouldn't be a desirable scope.

I had it down at the Briars public viewing night and we had some good seeing. Even people who had never looked through a scope before could see many bands on Jupiter when the seeing popped in. I had a great night with it and when the seeing is good you cant ask any more from a scope this size.

OK Geoff, while not wanting to spam this thread I would and certainly am looking at it, but I have a few other priorities that have come to the fore recently, including the missus!!!
