dirtyest pc ever seen!!

someone brought over a pc to fix, i opened the cover and to my suprize this is what i saw...

Yes that is fairly dirty. It looks like someone has dredged it up out of a river and decided to try and fix it. So, did you get it fixed????

I've seen a few so full of Dog/Cat hairs and dust they were overheating, but that one definitely takes the prize :)

Nah - that's nothing.

When I worked for IBM as an engineer back in the early 80's I had a 3270 dumb terminal arrive for service that had come in from Mt Isa. It was still working perfectly but had come in for preventative maintenance with a bunch of other stuff.

When opened, we had a layer of bauxite dust at least an inch thick over the entire insides. Once removed by judicious cleaning processes it never worked again.....:rolleyes:

The bauxite dust probably acted as an RF shield :whistle: :lol:

But seriously these 'dirty' computers become such a fire hazard.......:scared:

Always a good idea to give them a clean every once in a while.

Yep, amazing how clean they come up by opening up the back and hitting it full blast with a fire hose!!! :lol:

I used to work for a couple of companies in Sydney. One did sound
and lighting the other lasers in night clubs up and down the east
coast. When I used to go in and do the 3 monthly service. It always
amazed me how much fog juice (and the odd drink) was runing around
in the bottom of the PC (pools) and over the boards. The main reason
for DAT & CD players mucking up was fog juice. It was pretty simple
to fix... we would just slot another in and take the dud back to the
office for a warm soapy wash then rinse and basically hang them out
to dry for a few days.

The worst ones were the ones that just seem to keep going so they
would be in the installation for some months before you got the call.

I've worked Remote site heavy construction for the last 20 odd yrs. The PC's used on those sites don't last too long. They fill up with dirt & dust pretty quick.
Here's a pic of a site I was at on Thursday last week.
(only a day visit this time) This spot is about 900klm north of Adelaide east of Coober Pedy.

There was a dust storm here 5hrs before this pic was taken. The dust was pouring off the office window slots like water.

CHECK OUT THE SKY!!!!!! Wish I had my scope with me.

Wow I'm jealous of that sky but a bit put off by the thought of the dust storms.
