G'Day,

Exactly what bits and pieces do you need to connect your SLR up to your scope, both in prime focus and by afocal projection?

Cheers,

For prime focus you need a T Ring-this is camera specific-and a camera adapter.

Bintel sells T Rings and adapters and so does Astronomy online,

Andrews Communication sells adapters only but cheaper than anyone else.

For prime focus I use a Baader 2" to 1.25" adaptor, and this has the obligatory T thread around the top, as do some other adaptors.
For eyepiece projection you need the T thread, but also an adaptor that provides a place for the eyepiece, and for best effect this position should be adjustable. If you try prime focus you can also use a barlow to increase your image scale, with the same requirement, a T thread at the camera end.
Onto this T thread you then attach the required camera T adaptor, and this is specific to your camera lens mount type, ie, Nikon, Canon, Olympus, Pentax, Minolta, etc.

Ok thank for that guys :)

One more quick one - the 1.25" vs 2"... how is that physically implemented on the scope? Like if I buy a whole heap of filters or accessories that are 1.25", then I decided I want to use a 2" T-ring or filter or something, does that mean I can't use the 1.25" at the same time?

Cheers,

Brad

If you have a 2" focusor on your scope you will only need the adapter to use your 1.25" EP's and filters. If you don't have a 2" focusor; you will need one before you can 2" EP's
