Anyone else having problems with the LPI??
I'm using XP, SP2 and everytime I disconnect the LPI the system crashs to the blue screen!??
I've re-installed a couple of times, but still get the same results.........
Any ideas????

Do you have an alternate computer to try the camera on? This would eliminate the possibility of a defective camera or cable causing the crash.

I have seen defective USB cables that intermittently short the +5 volt line during the physical disconnection and cause the computer to reboot. Seems to often happen when I have disconnected the cable. Also, on some cases the front side USB connectors are sort of dodgey and they short against the case easily when disconnecting and will cause the computer to do strange things.

And make sure you go to the task bar and double click on the USB icon and select the device you wish to remove before pulling the USB connection.

I have had the same problem with the front USB connector shorting out and rebooting the system.
I've removed the metal sleeve around it now and have not had that problem again.

It's a good idea if you can try the LPI out on another system.

Have you downloaded the latest version?
I found the ealry versions crashed often.
4 times in one hour in the first session.

OK, thanks for the input.
I've tried different USB cables, which work OK being connected/ disconnected with a local printer.... same result; crash to desktop!!!!
BTW, there's no task bar icon for USB connections, only the PCMIA??????
I've upgraded the Autostar suite previously and ended up re-installing the original from the CD... I'll try again.
If I can " borrow" my wife's DELL I'll try the LPI in her machine later today...

Interesting......
I use an ACER Aspire 5670, XP SP2, and my wife a DELL Inspiron 6400, XP SP2.
The LPI still crashes mine, BUT worked 1st time with the DELL!!!!!!!!!
Upgraded Autostar Suite to V3.23 and again no issues with the DELL; can plug and unplug anytime - no crashes!!
Looks like I'll have to swap computers!
