Well I thought some long exposures stacked may be the go.

Using the 70/300 ($200 cheap lens as in the twin lens pak) piggy back unguided on an eq6 thru canon 300d and 800 iso.

I meant to do everything right with 300 seconds per frame:) well they came in all over the place:D 320 , 340 that sort of thing cause I was doing something else:whistle: and kept forgetting to close the shutter:eyepop: .. so you will forgive me adding a near 400 second dark frame..to the five frames at approximately 300 seconds...I did a flat field but lost it..not really but it would not stack last time so I left it out..it stacked so its here:thumbsup: .

All hail to deep sky stacker ..mind you I tried to get it to stack these and others about 2 weeks ago and it would not...

Took the best result I could manage from Deep Sky Stacker and put it in photo shop..did auto levels, and auto colour, brightness blurr shadows thing;) ..and downsized it to this...lost a bit but there you go:)

Apart from the "TV tube about to blow" look, it's great! :)

Lots of signal there and well, it is of the hub of our galaxy so you can't go wrong really

Here is my M7 attempt with 160 second exposures but it seems to lack color to me even if it is the right color..I dont know what I can do with it.

Loks pretty green to me. Not much other colour. Not sure what has happened.

Deep Sky Stacker, you're right, it's a great program, very forgiving.
You got heaps of detail there Alex. Thanks for posting.

Yep looks too green, after stacking try adjusting the RGB slider values so they are more even. I usually only saturate up to about 16%, anything more than that tends to look fake to me.

Nice one Alex!!
What Andrew says about RGB sliders to get a nicely balanced color image.
Make sure to tick to apply your changes to your image when you save it.
cheers Gary

Thanks everyone for the help, advice and encouragement.
I am not trying to make excuses for me rather than point out to anyone thinking of having a go how much fun they can have with something they may already own..many folk have the canon twin pak and that with a basic eq mount can get these... needless to say most should be able to do better because they most certainly will manage to process better.. I play with the dials and pick something after 50 attempts approach..but I like the arty side so some gallaxies end up with a couple of super nova bursts and resolvable planets.
I have found a fairly good m7 at 400iso and although a single frame I will see if I can come up with the right color.
Thanks again
