Hi Guys - Here is a belated result from last new moon. I am not really happy with it. I know what you are thinking - it looks ok to me - and its pleasant at lo-res but the focus was a bit out so this is as big as you will be seeing this one.

I had some problems with my generator and lost quite some time fighting with it so this was a rushed effort.

3x10 RGB with FSQ-106 and STL11000m

Stop Press!! I have had a think about it and here is a slightly bigger version http://astronomy.proem.com.au/snake_colour.jpg

Thanks for the props so far. I appreciate it.

I was just thinking how far we have come with this technology that I can post an image like this which is comparable to observatory images from not so long ago and say "I'm not happy with it" and "it was a rushed effort"

Strange eh??? We live in a golden age.

That's your thought for the day

NB: I changed my mind. Here is a slightly larger version. http://astronomy.proem.com.au/snake_colour.jpg

Hi Monte, what a fascinating image. I love the way the dark nebulae wind their way through the rich starfield.

I know you had a few dramas but it's still a lovely image.

Cheers

Nice work Monte. Still wrestling with focusing? Is @Focus2 working any better for you?

Hi Guys - thanks for the critiques. I am yet to use @focus2. Will advise when I have. This is a good example of why I need a better focusing system!

Saturation? Hmmmm ..... I understand the concept but how would I go about getting it? Please let me know. It has 90 mins of exposure data so that should be a help but I wouldnt be surprised if the poor focus hasn't helped.

BTW does anyone know if the blooms around the stars look right? I can post a full res shot of some if you need to see them.

A lovely shot Monte, and good to see how you have posted this one, as opposed to a simple link, nice work.
