Hi all, here is a Ha image of the Tarantula Nebula from last night, It started off clear and then quickly become dense cloud and foiled any attempt at more data.

This image consist of the best 39 subs at 21.2 seconds each and combined in MaximDL. This was another test image to put into practice some handy tips from Jase (thanks:thumbsup: ) and it all seemed to be going well until the clouds showed up. It is not the greatest of images but the stars didn't go "blobby" which was the main aim and the faint Nebula is starting to show up. Oh for another 100 subs.

The Tarantula is probably too low for me to seriously image until later in the year but all looks good for other targets. :D

Cheers

Good effort! It's not an easy one to image. The tonal range is a challenge. You can be pleased with this one

Very nice, I like how you have also caught the outer regions ;)

Hi Monte & Nick, thanks for your comments.

Nick, in response to your question, I use MaximDL for processing. With this image I adjusted the levels of each sub to get the best possible image then reject the ones that were cloud affected. I then equalised the stretch across the rest of the images and combined them into the final image which I then gave a very slight level tweak to finish off.

I am very much a layman in the processing area so for the moment I try to keep it as simple as possible. I dont have anything like PS so that's really all I'm doing.

Cheers
