Did anyone else see a large and unusual object/shooting star in the Canberra sky on Sunday night 29/7/07 around 8pm aest.
It travelled from south to north, traversing the entrire sky in about 4-5 seconds! It looked like a large white ball with glowing red ring. It had no tail. At arms length, the size of the ball was about the size of a golf ball (maybe slightly larger)!!!
There are so many unusual things about this sighting I don't know where to begin (speed, size, direction of travel, lack of tail/noise, etc.), so I post here hoping someone else saw it.
Are there any automated meteor tracking cameras in the southern hemisphere? Did someone get a photo of it?
