Hi guys,

I just brought back a CGE mount from USA with me on the flight back, but left behind the 25lb counterweight for obvious reasons. If anyone has for sale a spare one or anything that will do the same job, please let me know.

Cheers,
Nuri

Hi Nuri

You could get some weights from a gym or fitness shop?
Otherwise Mick Pinner does some custom engineering of counter weights, or also try Luke Bellami at www.starstuff.com.au

Hi Nuri, i do heaps of counters weights of any size, for my personal use and it is quite easy to do if you are handy in the shed, so to speak.
weigh up the amount of scrap lead you need, get an old heavy base aluminium saucepan, preferably with no handle, and put it on an old gas burner in the shed, let it melt, turn it off and let it cool, drill a hole, the size of your shaft, through the center, and there you have it.

lead is heavy so you want need heaps, and if you want special sizes, use old or new alumimium cake tins, and pour the lead into those slowly and let cool.

Works a treat, i even use egg rings to make small ones.

I think that there might be less of a health risk if you were to melt the lead outdoors!
