wierd nebula near open cluster ngc3532

I imaged a strange nebula near NGC 3532 with the 10 inch after seeing it in a wider field 6 inch f3.6 image I took last week. This time no filters at all, as I wanted to get a full spectrum image, including infrared.
6x10 mins ISO 200, MPCC 10inch f5.6 newtonian Modded Hutech 350D with clear AR coated glass over the sensor so infrared is recorded also. quarter moon in the sky. Hand off axis guided
Full res. crop of the area plus a full frame view
Processed as usual in Iris and PS, resized in Paintshop pro
I dont know if the object has a name as its not on any of the charts I have.

At first I thought the yellowish white object is a galaxy, but it appears strongly in the UKST Ha survey plate so it appears to be a HA emitting nebula, but as its not red like the nebula nearby, who knows whats going on with it?

Could it possibly be PK 289-0.1 (which is not a Planetary Nebula, even those it's designation is PK)

No ive checked on both the Brobroff and Uranometria atlases, theres no nebulae of any kind in or close to the cluster. Thanks, re. naming it too :)

Here you go Scott. It is imaged by lots of others, but I can't find any designation for it anywhere in any catalogue. It is a distant far-flung part of the Carina Nebula:

I think it is BBWo 347 also called GN 11.09.9.02.
The diameter is 10 arc minutes according to Guide8, but looks like 4' in the image below.

Well done, great detective work there :)
heres a map from Star Atlas pro of both objects
heres a UKST HA plate of the nebula. (BBWo 347 or GN 11.09.9.02) As shown there and in the DSS2 Red pic that glenc kindly put up, the galaxylike object is strong in red and HA yet is yellowish white in the colour pic.

you need someone to confirm the comet image - need to image or get a recent image from that area taken after you took yours???

BBWo 347 also called GN 11.09.9.02 or whatever they catalogue it as, it will be called 'The Alder Nebula' by me from now on. :thumbsup:

It's also easy to remember and say, than BBWo 347 or GN 11.09.9.02 :lol:
