View Full Version here: : First Stack
This is my first stack, I really didn't get anything special, I think I see a star pair, but I'm not sure. I see how stacking greatly reduces noise and brings out sharpness & such now. The clouds were moving in and hopefully they die down before I go back out.

Nice shot Ingo. I really like the cloud too - it imparts a feeling of being in a rocket and breaking through the atmo.
At 15secs per frame it looks like your starts are nicely rounded, so you've obviously polar aligned reasonably well.
What camera?
Great work! :)
Cheers
Chris
Nice picture :0
Looks like you made that one at about 5:30 - 6:00 pm
Hah, I'd say 11pm. That's light pollution for ya. :eyepop:
Also it's summer here :P
Just a Nikon D50, on a tripod, no mount with a 24-70 F2.8.
Sorry for the double post.

Just on a tripod? Wow.. last time I exposed short 15 second frames I still ended up with trails and elongated stars.
A D50? Cool. I thought that you'd gone to the dark side, which is why I asked.
Still a nice pic considering the light pollution.
Not used to that much light pollution :)

Hi Ingo,
Is the light pollution really that bad? for 15sec shots?....:eyepop:
Still its a pretty pic with the clouds!!!
I`m glad I don`t get much light pollution!!!! I can get maybe 2min at iso1600 and f/2.8 on a really clear night!!
cheers

Gary - This IS the NY tri-state area we're talking about..... It's one of the most populaced areas on Earth.:)
Yeah...I'm in a "red" area for light pollution. I live next to a main street with all street lights, I live less than a mile away from new yorks second largest airport...etc.

LaGuardia? Wow! That is a pretty-well lit area.
Eh well I guess it's not the third then. I'm by Albany International Airport.
