My 11 year old son Harry (Little Dragon) real name Aaron, has only ever played Rugby League, which was for our club 'Ballarat Dragons', and has even played twice in front of over 11,000 at Olympic Park Melbourne during Melbourne Storm matches. He was recognised by senior League officials to be a great talent!!!

Last month he was asked by his Primary School district Sports co-ordinator if he would like to play in the inter-school Regional Football (Aussie Rules) Lightning Premiership.

Never having played the game, and never have even watched it on TV (we are always too busy watching the NRL), the school sports teacher gave him a few training sessions with the school team leading up to the comp. Harry said the game seems easy enough.

I went along to watch the big Competiton Day, not knowing what the hell they were doing
but the crowd kept yelling things like "wow, great catch Aaron", "teriffic kick Aaron", etc. I even heard one parent from another school say to someone else "gee that kid is good!".

Poor me stood there not understanding any of the game.

To cut a long story short :P Today we were asked to attend his School Assembly.

Harry was presented with the competitions 'Best & Fairest' award in his first ever game of Aussie Rules!!!!

And now the local club wants him to play for them
They never asked him before this!!

ONYA HARRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !

Nice story Ken now all you have to do is introduce him to the round ball game and he will be the complete athlete.
Keep up the great work little dragon as playing sport beats working for a living.

Gazz, he really likes soccer and is not too bad at it, but all the local clubs were over-full and weren't taking any more players. Soccer is huge here.

my dad was watching me play and he didn't know
what was happning or if i was going good or bad!
i found the game pretty easy at first , but when we were playing the final against combined district school team, we lost :(

but i still prefer rugby league,
because it's more fun and i get to score tries. :D

Well done Harry!

Even though I'm a "yank" by birth and don't know much about it, there is nothing that makes me more proud than watching my daughter (age 12) play field hockey. I'm quite sure your father and the rest of your family are very proud of you.

All parents love to see their kids do well at anything they try.

Keep up the good work!

Well done Harry!

Ask your dad if he knows of a Tony Howlett from Snake Valley. I believe he was also a very good local ausie rules player some years back. I now work with him over here!

Again congratulations.

Glad to see that your real passion is the real game. I too got converted (ha ha) when I spent a few years working in Sydney.
