Hello to everyone. I want to share here too my latest job on the asteroid Vesta that I've took on May.
In the processed images it's clear visible the bright and dark areas as in the raw too.
So I think that the bright areas are really albedo differences and the dark area (about 2x2 pix in the processed image) instead could be 50:50 between real and artifact. The reason why I think so is the presence of this area in the raw image (left) and just photometrical relevant in the image rotated (right).
I acquired in different nights just to standardize the acquiring method to enhance better the albedo differences. So, at the end, I just used Red filter (Astronomik, IRcutted) and ADU not over 130. I freezed the seeing artifacts using 37ms, an exposure time not so long but not so short. I've bet all in the acquiring phase. So here's the result that I'm pleasured to share with you and to discuss about the result too.

Regards, Antonello

Hello, Anton

A very impressive imaging result and a fine presentation of those results. Looks good enough to me – I’d say there is some genuine detail there.

Cheers

ciao Antonello,

bello bellissimo!
that is really one exciting image! who ever thought some years ago it would be possible to image details on minor planets!
very well done!
I`m deeply impressed!

Thanks al l:)

I agree with you Dietmar about to image details on minor planet, but I like to think just to a photometric differences and not to the so called "details" ;)

Excellent image Antonello, certainly looks like a shadow area.

WOW what a fantastic result. Well done. I take it that you had no trouble finding and identifying Vesta in the first place to be able to get that image. Simply wonderful!

Thanks Garyh, Phil and Houghy :)

@Phil: I agree with you about shadow area.

@Houghy: Finding Vesta :D eh eh GoTo=NoProblem. Anyway, in that nights Vesta was very bright and I could see it already in the finder! What experience :)
