At 02:56 GMT on the 21st of July 1969 Neil Armstrong walked on the moon....
38 years - amazing to think what has happend in that time, amazing to think that with our "primitive" technology back then we still got men to the moon and back at all!

Well I personally wouldn't call the Moon another world, still it was an amazing
achievement. It is my first memory of TV, I painly remember bouncing on
my old mans knee watching it unfold on TV.
My mum still has the newspapers of the day stashed up in the attic

I wasn't even thought of.....LOL
Must have really been amazing to see LIVE!
I guess i'll get my chance though in years to come with even better coverage, unless the tools doing the programming start showing those annoying SOUL and McDonalds ads in the ad breaks.......
PS....Remember the TV pics came via PARKES and HSC!

I remember it well. I was in 2nd class (I think they call it 2nd grade these days) as a 7 year old. I distinctly remember where I sat in the class and that ALL of the co-ed students watched in awe. Our class teacher had done a really good job, as did our parents, of explaining to us the significance of the event. I wish I could go through it all again some day...

Yes, I remember.
I was working for a bank at the time and the branch in which I worked was pretty much opposite a Myers store (in Gordon, NSW). Wow, was that exciting or what? Whether or not I deliberately contrived a visit to the store (or somewhere else and took the time to drop in) I cannot recall. I suspect that I did just that. Myers had a television set up and a surprisingly small group of people were gathered in front of it. I joined them.
I will never, ever, forget that experience.

I remember it well, I was 16, we (the whole college) were allowed to stop to watch the live telecast, I remember watching those first steps, an exciting time, seems like it was just yesterday. At 54 I'd like to think I may see mans next steps on the moon, or maybe even mars, before departing this world.

Seven hundred and fifty boys from 12yrs to 18yrs of age crowded around several begged and borrowed televisions in the school hall, all silent, no command.
