Hey all :)
I thought that I'd take the shot I took of Crux, that had the Foxtel dish in the frame, and "add" a moon that I took the other night. Has anyone else doctored an image of theirs? I hope that some pretty creative examples might come of this post.:)
Cheers

Lovely image, Chris.
My favourite in recent memory is Dennis' shot with the Moon and Antares, taken earlier this year or late last year. That was awesome.

Before I bought my first telescope I used to spend my free time doing graphic art on the computer. Usually involving 3d rendering and photoshop.
When I started in astronomy with my first telescope and taking wide field shots on it I started to incorporate astro photo's and started calling it "astro art".
Then I got sick of it and gave up :) Now they look old and crap :) But I will try to find some if I remember when I'm next home, they are the kind of thing you're referring to...

Long time ago I was present when UFO's were "photographed"....
It was done by taking multiple exposures on the same piece of film (many film cameras used to have that feature). The resulting image was perfect, as the UFO's were really shot above the city, and it can still be found on internet as a "real" one.....
Today, to do something like that is a piece of cake....

Nice piece of work Chris.
Yep, I doctored a Joop/Galilean image once.
I took an avi of Joop, then another avi of of the same spot but over-exposed to show the moons, and overlayed the good Joop on top of the burnt out Joop so you can see all in the 1 image. Then stuck it all on my background image of the Doradus Galaxy Cluster.
Here it is:

Hey Mike
Wow – you must have a memory like an elephant. Here is the Antares-Moon-Earthshine-M4 (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=13765) post, dated Sept 2006.

Hi Chris
A very nice composite - not too overdone, making it look quite natural and feasible.
Of course, ‘cos we are all smart astro-dudes, we know the Moon doesn't really leave the environs of the plane of the ecliptic – don’t we?
Cheers

My desktop at work is a lovely photo combining the Moon and M31 (Hubble) in the one image at the same scale. Cannot remember where I got it from - perhaps a link on IIS?
OK, I just went looking. Here it is:-

I have it rotated 180 deg and cropped to fit my monitor desktop.

Lovely photo, Chris. Fills me with a childish sense of wonder.
A bit OT but it reminded me of this shot I took earlier in the year of Comet McNaught over my neighbour's dish.

Thanks Graeme :)
A very nice shot of yours as well! There's something about a dish that gets my thoughts wondering too - I guess it's becauase these are our only personal link with whatever is out there...
Cheers

Thanks Erick :) This is what I'm talking about!
I think that my fascination came from website such as www.digitalblasphemy.com (http://www.digitalblasphemy.com) that stores piles of surreal spacey scenes. Here are a couple of thumbnails:
