Hi

Yet even more multiple stars from 17th July 2007. I had to be careful with some frames where the seeing was particularly violent, as the distorted diffraction rings could easily be mistaken for a close component.

Lovely work once again Dennis.
I really love the colour variations you've captured here.

Thank you for sharing.

Hi Andrew

Thanks! I am pleased that I have discovered the pleasures and challenges of imaging double stars, as opportunities for high resolution imaging of Jupiter and the Moon have been few and far between so far in 2007.

That’s the beauty of astronomy – so much to see up there!

Cheers

Nice work Dennis, great to see some less-familiar less-imaged objects.

They all appear to have an aqua hue to them - is this the true colour of the stars or is something going funny with the colour balance of the DBK?

Hi Mike

Likewise, I was surprised by the predominance of blue pairs in my captures so far and I’m still investigating this. Some of the doubles seem to match the classical colours described by visual observers and the DBK appears to record these faithfully.

Whilst watching some of the captures on screen, I often see the Red and Blue colour components of some of the brighter stars shearing due to the seeing conditions, although I use the Registax RGB align function to re-align these.

Also, I’ve just taken the plunge and moved up to CS3 and am learning how to use it. Boy – it sure is heap powerful magic, I should have made the transition from Corel Photo Paint years ago. I haven’t played with the RGB stuff in CS3 yet, mainly used curves to bring out the fainter companion(s).

Cheers
