Yep. If you can stand the wait, go the 900nc.

What price are they going to charge for that?

Hi Shaun

Do you want to do planets/moon only, or DSO's as well?

For planets only, you don't need long-exposure modification. For DSO's as well, you will need long-exposure mod.

Definitely get the 900nc - it is slightly better than the 840k. You also need the 1.25" adapter with filter thread. Don't worry about the baffled version. You won't notice any difference on the planets.

Get the Baader UV/IR blocking filter as well.

yeh as Matt said, if you buy that one you get the whole kit ready to go, just get the UV/IR filter next.

as an 840k user, I still say get the 900. I would recommend getting a Modded one because it will cost even more to get it modded later if you change your mind. The modded ones will still do 'normal mode' Avi's. It should have a switch to change from normal to Long exposure :thumbsup:

I've pointed Shaun to telescopes-astronomy to get it done professionally. If it mucks up at least he'd have some sort of warranty. At $140 I can vouch for a fact that this is a BARGAIN.

Edit: But I do agree if you want a professionally modified camera with warranty go with T&A, Matt is an awesome guy. I have enjoyed many conversations with him passing on some great advise even though I have not bought anything from him.

I've just received a brand new SPC900 (unmodded of course!) that I purchased from an ebay seller in Canada - cost me $73 inc postage. I Love the high exchange rate of the Aussie dollar right now! :thumbsup:

(I haven't had a chance to use it yet at all, but I did buy a suitable focussor adaptor on the forum here. As soon as I know what I'm doing, or rather what I should be doing, I'll try to do it!)
