Nice work houghy, it's all about the foreground though - try to add some foreground interest next time.. (more of it)

Yes, foreground is important in framing this sort of shot.

I'd go for 1 or 3... for the slightly better exposure on the moon showing the crescent a little more clearly and the darker part of the globe.

Yeah I know that but I was on very limited time - had to go and pick up my daughter from Brownies. so a 6.20 deadline had to be met, and i only thought about gettng a shot at 5.30, that gave me 50 minutes to do something. I did think about going into the middle of the median on Newcastle road and doing a few 30 second shots with the traffic moving either side and the view above. BUt that would have required me to keep my daughter in the car while I set up again and took it. with my wife being sick my options were very limited.:sadeyes:

I know what you mean.. I stopped on the way home from work, took 15 minutes to take a few shots over Brisbane water and then headed home to a wife desperately waiting for me to get home to help bath the kids :)

Tell me about it, I desperately tried to get setup in time but got caught up with work.
I missed the ideal twilight and only had minutes to setup by which time it had gotten a little too dark. :(

I'll see how they turn out.

You know, for all the technology we have available, isn't it exciting to just gaze into the sky, naked eye, and see such a delightful sight.

Yesterday, Melbourne's weather was not the best - lashing rain and hail, cold wind and not so far away, ice formed and snow fell. I had given up any hope of seeing this celestial arrangement in the twilight sky. I was in my office after sunset, occasionally looking west out of my window to see heavy cloud and just the occasional gap. Oh well, I'll wait for the photographs.

Packed up at 6:15, walked out the door and there, in front of me, was a wonderous sight - Venus, Regulus, the Moon and Saturn hanging in a crystal clear sky, the cloud had cleared. I put everything down, found a dark corner and just drank it in. Ten minutes and the clouds rolled in again, closing the curtains for the night.

'Ain't that grand!
