Hi All!

In spite of the minus 1.4 degrees C my frosted thermometer reached during Saturday night :screwy: , I managed my second colour shot of my astro imaging career.

Hope you enjoy.

Details and waffle underneath the image.

A very lovely image Marcus, great colours, pinpoint stars and some top detail.

I must agree as well your setup is an impressive one.

Marcus, it has been a long time between posts. ;) A marked improvement on your first (NGC2070).

Indeed, slightly oversampled (though I don't know what your conditions where on the night - obviously more the 1 arcsec). Oversampled data is easily fixed with a few iterations of deconvolution to keep objects looking tight.

Your processing needs more work, you've really black clipped the red channel and subtly the green. I suspect you've set the black point to early on in your processing routine which has caused this. This is usually one of the last things I do before finalisation.

I also feel you could have brought the colours out a little more. Perhaps the use of the non-linear stretch using PS shadow/highlights tool on the chrominance data instead of curves or hue/saturation controls. You may also wish to try different ways of introducing your luminance data so you maintain a balance of luminance resolution and chrominance data.

Look forward to seeing more images with this great ota/mount/camera combination.

Thanks for the tips Jase. I had another go at processing. I think this version looks better.

I brought out the colour more (hopefully not too much though) and sharpened things up a tad.

Boy such crappy equipment Markus, how do you cope? :P

Very nicely imaged, I can see some great work is going to be coming from you as time goes by.

Nice Markus! much nicer with the second process!!! pitty the seeing let all that fine gear down!!
Still it is a fine image of m20 and you are doing a fine job of your processing!
I hate to think what my first LRGB images would look like...lol
cheers and hope you get some good seeing soon!!
