OK, so back when my observatory was located in a more isolated location (few of years back) there were occasions when I enjoyed putting the surround sound system I had installed to good use.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one to disturb the peace, but occasionally on those warm summer nights in the deserted valley that my Obs was located in, it was just an awsome atmosphere to have something nice sounding out.

And then today, on the radio, I heard one of my favorite songs for just that situation - hadn't heard it in aaages. Never did learn the title/artist of it. But, this time the DJ actually said the title/artist, and when I got home, what do you know, I found it on Bigpond Music! Well, registration, $1.69, 10 sec download, and 1 useful little freeware piece of software later it's on my ZenW pumping out from the same sound system again - Bob Dylan, Hurricane. I'll never forget the name now.

This time from inside the house in suburbia, at somewhat of a lower volume, but gez it brings back the memories of having the freedom to just listen to what I wanted not worrying about disturbing anyone, while doing astronomy. Creating that atmosphere.

Everyone has their favorite music for astronomy, mine varies heavily from time to time, and it's only occasionally I get to listen to anything these days as I don't like making any noise the neighbours have to hear. Besides, the vibrations generated by the sound waves resonating through the LX tube weren't so good for image clarity

Don't ya just love it when you finally find one of those favorite songs. A good release after a day of doctor visits and car troubles.

Mmm, I think I am starting to feel the enjoyment of astronomy coming back...

Roger.

I'm really glad you found the song you were looking for Roger.
Don't you just hate it when you don't know the title or who sings it.
Drives you crazy till you find out !

I must admit though, personally I don't like that song much although it was very sad what happened to "The Hurricane".

I suppose I should mention that I don't listen to song lyrics much. It's the rythm/atmosphere/power/tone/feel to songs that I like or dislike, and it's only after much time that I end up hearing and understanding all the songs. Early days for this one :) I suppose something good about this kind of song is over time I get more out of it, slowly listening to more of the actual story, as opposed to songs that just have one chorus repeated over and over.

Glad to hear that you're enjoying astronomy again, Roger.

I guess like any hobby, interest can come and go.

I guess it could be something as simple as a magical clear night that could bring the interest back, and a frustrating imaging session that could see it go :)

It's amazing what makes us happy. I was driving home yesterday arvo and while waiting at the lights I spotted a really bright 'sundog'. I didn't have my camera with me which was a shame. But it brightened my day. About a week ago I managed to snap a pic of a rainbow through a cloud which was awesome too.
