I still have a focus problem with eyepieces mate, but prime focus with the camera hanging off the end seems no probs. Bintel rang me today on my email and said they would send me an extension tube to fix the problem.
I'm gonna go to my uncles tonight and use his lathe to turn one of my own anyway. I have some aircraft grade allie round bar and tube at home.
I have to make a counterweight bar too now.
Other than that little hiccup, I am extremely happy with the ED80 Skywatcher overall.
Baz.:D

Oh Baz, 30 secs?, too much noise, yes the ED80 is capable of very good pics with an DSLR, but do it justice with a few minuites, please. Youd be amazed at the difference, even with one exposure. Did you have guideing?.

Bazz, the detail is being picked up nicely, but lost to noise.
Take at least a minimum of 3 (hopefully more) images and stack them. You'll see the noise will mostly dissappear.

Thanks dudes, I'll get right on it! That was just a test shot. I am still impressed though.
Baz.
Hi Baz,that's a good image for a single 30 second exposure you were starting to collect some good detail. Just a few more would have kicked it along just that bit more.
Still it's a good effort, looking forward to more images.

What other camera settings did you use? ISO?

ISO 1600. Like I said, it was just a quick test shot to try it out against what I am used to with the C11.
When tha snow stops falling in a couple of days, I will get amongst it and spend some time on the imaging.
I think I may have to drop to ISO 800.
Don't know if I should go for long guided single shots or multiple short shots. I guess I will just have to experiment.
There's nothing like learning for yourself.

Barry,
Nice round stars.
As others have said, go longer and deeper and you'll have a cracker. :)

Congratulations on the new scope Barry, plus that first image looks good to me, have you taken another shot since, so that we can compare to see that you are heading in the right direction?

No1 Just smooths it out a bit and removed some noise.
No 2 A little exposure tweak.
Great shot. Maybe i will get some like this with a little practice. I love my ED80. Bang for your buck is an understatement.

great shot!
I also had a focus problem with eyepieces on my ED80 but it disappeared once I started using a star diagonal. I guess that's a known issue for all new ED80s.
cheers,
Mike
