View Full Version here: : Barnards Galaxy
Hi all, this is one from last night of Barnards Galaxy. At first I thought I had stuffed it up and not imaged it at all as I am not familiar with this irregular galaxy, but when I checked it against some web images I realised I had actually captured it. I would have taken more exposures had I realised sooner.
I am definitely going to revisit this galaxy and capture the RGB as well as that will bring out the young blue stars.
The image was taken with the DSI II Pro with an Astronomiks IR/UV filter at f/3.3 on the LX200R.
The images were a combination of 65 exposures at 21.2 seconds taken with Envisage and combined in MaximDL.
Cheers:)

Tricky sucker huh? It is a topic I am visiting this month for a local comp, so I will see what I can turn up too.
Nice job so far too.

Hey Ric, ya nailed it. Well done:clap:
Barnards Galaxy isn't even a fuzzy Blob! It's more like a splodge:lol:
Thanks guys, It really intrigues me now, I'm going to do a bit of research on this one.
Ken, maybe we should rename it "Barnards Splodge" with apologies to Mr Barnard.

Nice shot Ric ;)
Barnard's Splodge, ay? I might try to get a pic of this one soon! ;)
Thanks Nick, definitely have a go mate, it's positioned nicely from mid to late evening and is a great challenge.
I'm definitely going to have another go for more Lum subs and some colour as well.
Cheers

Ric,
Nicely done. I had a quick play with Photoshop and there's a fair bit of data hidden inside there.
Look forward to your next attempt.
Regards,
Humayun
Thanks Humayun, I've now taken another 120 images at 21 seconds to add as well as 35 images each in RGB. I'll have to find some time to put it all together now.
Cheers
