Recived my powermate 2x today and was talking to Michael from Bintel {good bloke btw as with Mike and Don}about the new Meade deep sky imager . Looks like theres a delay until middle of Jan until units are shipped here due to bug problems .....temptation removed for a while.

heh that's interesting.. i haven't really heard anything good about them yet.. bit of a disappointment really as big things were expected of it.

The technology will improve though, in a year or 2 all the problems will be ironed out and there'll really be some affordable deepspace long exposure cooled astro ccd cameras around.

If you feel like it, a review of the 2x powermate would be excellent, especially when compared to a normal 2x barlow. I've been considering getting a 2x powermate so it'd be nice to hear your thoughts on what it's like.

Great to see another Powermate owner.
I think you are going to love it.
Saturn%25 and my self were comparing the low power 2"EP's the other night for the review and using a 2 "barlow and my 4x powermate and it was clear to see the difference. More so in eye relief and characteristics of the Ep's rather than mag difference..
Looking forward to the review.
Another advantage of the powermate is when your all alone viewing and some one sneaks up behind you to mug you ;you whip out the Powermate and knock em over the head with it :D
