The 'Ving' Straw Theory!
toetoe
23-05-2005, 12:19 PM
I like that Ken, very good.
thanks ken, I think you captured my theory pretty well :P
but according to slice you need 50 people blowing on that straw!

23-05-2005, 02:08 PM
hehehehe! They are all in the back waiting to join in. I think they are watching the in-flight movie 'Dumb & Dumber and then there's us!'

Coming from the area, I think you'll find that there are enough spaced out people there to want to try this.

LOL.
NASA will read this and fund an experiment in space "How much pressure needs to be blown through a straw by an Astronaut to make a 1 degree manouvre".

Being a funny guy I have to say ,blow It out the other end !It will go faster.
If this statement offends anyone I plead insanity!
Louie :D
lol. now that's a work of art!
ving's theory couldn't possibly work. there's no way an astronaut could blow through a straw with a helmet on.
ballaratdragons
23-05-2005, 08:27 PM
It's a magic helmet Terry. One of those NASA secrets!
They changed the design and made this helmet to 'blow' cause all the Astronauts kept saying "These helmets suck".
slice of heaven
23-05-2005, 08:40 PM
I like this kind of thread. lol
Youd make a great modern theorist BD
If the facts dont support the theory , change the facts !
ha. funnier than a fart in a space-suit, Ken :D that's what the straw is for...fresh air!
someone should email NASA and get the ISS astronauts to blow through an IceInSpace straw as an experiment. "Experiment #923: Ving Straw Propulsion Theory".
I wonder if they'd realise it was just blatent advertising? :)
ballaratdragons
23-05-2005, 09:03 PM
Yep Slice. Works every time!
Terry, that's why the helmets are so big, for advertising!
Here is the actual NASA top secret helmet.

I smuggled out the Top Secret photos of the 'Ving' suits to be used in 2008.
They are very, very advanced!
Note that the straws don't float off into space! (another secret)

Hi Ken. Once again you have brought some sanity to this place.
Tell me tho., wouldn't using an adjustable/flexible straw be a little better for directional stability? Your art work is great. I recognised Ving immediately. Thanks for a great present, (a big laugh), on my birthday. :D L.

Laurie,
To be serious for a minute, they did try the flexible straw method but it sent the Astronaut into a very dangerous spin!

Hi Ken, You tryin' to kill me with laughter before the night's out, aren't you? :P L.
ps. I always thought Astronauts were a lot of 'Blow Hards'!
It would be a tad funny if IceInSpace gets a visit from men in suits as black helicopters circle, asking how we got photos of the top secret "straw project". :)

I managed to get a photo of David (the Inventor of 'Ving Straw' Motion) getting ready for a test flight into space to test the new improved super straw!

Too good Ken, almost fell off my chair with that one. :D L.
ps. Ving, just make sure that they're straws & not 'candy canes'.

Of course none of this would be possible without a launch vehicle. Thanks must go to Striiiiker Aerospace for the generous donation of the Launch vehicle which is rumoured to have multi- straw propulsion, hidden under the concrete.
