View Full Version here: : EQ6 & GPS won't slew?

Hello all. Has anybody encountered the following problem?

I have the EQ6 with the SynScan 3 controller upgraded to 3.12 and the SkyWatcher GPS plugin. When I first set up, the GPS registers nicely, I get ready to do my star alignment, select a start and the scope slews to where it thinks the star is. Time to adjust, right?

Strangely however, sometimes the scope won't slew when I push the arrow buttons! I have to "reboot" the mount one or more times before it "takes", and then everything is back to normal.

This has only started happening since I added the GPS unit, which makes me suspicious.

Has anybody had this problem or heard of it, and if so is there a fix? There isn't any later upgrade to the software available to my knowledge.

Hi there David, I've had the same problem recently with my Heq5 pro though I don't have the GPS, I have recently installed the update you describe .Howevermy thoughts and research seem to suggest it's either a power supply problem.I've been running a dew heater+ controller AND the mount off the same supply, a no. of threads from other forums suggest that this be avoided. The crappy English weather at the moment prevents another test, since I've sorted the power supply.Look there and see what you think.

I forgot to add, check the the red flashing light on the mount, clearly if it's going ten 2 the doz there's a problem with power.Sorry I can't be any further help.

If all else fails, re-install the software. Or toss the gps, they won't enhance accuracy on a mount like the EQ6 anyway.
