Ah sigh....Life, weather and equipment don't seem to be able to coperate all at the same time these days sooo not much has been happening at Mt Campbell Observatory Mark III of late :( .

I wasn't going to post it but what tha heck...this is the latest test image from last new moon. Nothing spectacular that's for sure, it's just a simple 3X10min Halpha shot of NGC 6357 and the first image taken using the 4" field flattener with the ProLine11002. It was Binned 2X2 by accident so it's lower res than I wanted DOH! and taken through some cloud even  - warning 800K image

And here is a reprocess of Omega Cen from some weeks back taken with the starfire but without the field flattener so it was cropped (yeh I was bored :zzz2:) - warning 800K image

Hopefully this new moon will see me able to test the Starfire and 4" Field flattener properly?

Cheers & Happy imaging

Mike

Hi Mike, they are wonderful images, I'd be very happy if I could get something close to them, still it's more inspiration for me to get out there and keep imaging.

If they are the entree's, I'd better get a seatbelt for my chair so I dont fall out when the main course arrives.

Cheers

I second that

And I second your second of that.

Clearly your equipment is of inferior quality Mike, and faulty as well. If you like I can come over and collect it all and take it to the dump for you. Save you the journey. It's the least I could do for a fellow IIS'er. :P

Nothing wrong with these Mike. NGC6357 is nicely processed and fills the frame well. Perhaps a little on the noisy side. I'm assuming this is a crop. No need to tell me about the imaging blues - I scrapped two hours of RGB data that I collected over the weekend due to soft focus (stupid FocusMax and operator).

Hey Mike,
good you were able to get some data down in between the weather.

Your Ngc6357 image has turned out very nicely with a good range of contrast throughout. It looks as though you had an issue with your dark frames as I see by the peppering effect ??
The flattener looks like it's doing it's job nicely....
Hate to think how much this 4" hunk of glass cost you:whistle:

Look forward to some colour on this soon...

All the best
Rich

Thanks all for the nice comments.

I am not happy with either image for several reasons but I like imaging and have done so little this year I felt compelled to share just to give myself the impression that I was doing "something" at least, so I posted them anyway :)

I've never been one that has to make a grand "release" of perfect pictures every time, it's the general act of imaging that I like the most (even if things haven't worked out as I had imagined this year DOH! )

Hopefully I can do some imaging this week/weekend?

Terrible! Boring Images, They are just some stars and some nebula, and the
other one is just a bunch of stars. So what!

 I wanna take images like that!!!!

Truly nice work Mike. Well done again.
