http://www.astrowhatsup.com/download-the-book/

There is also a 2006 version. This is 410 pages and i've only just started reading it, but im finding it interesting. But both are free and worth a look. Its published by Universe Today.

I have d/loaded and it opens as a PDF, but how do I save it onto desktop? I'm scared that if I close the PDF I might lose it.

I'd hate to have to d/load it every time I want to read some of it.

Ken just right click on the download link in the web page and choose "save as"
Then you can save it anywhere you like.

Thanks Mill, I couldn't find a 'Download Link' to right click on, but I saw a miniature floppy disc that says 'Save A Copy', so I used that.

Love it! I got this earlier in the year, printed it out and have been reading as we go through the year. I've followed up some of the suggestions. Northern hemisphere focus, but you cannot have everything. A nice combination of beginner's information with easy through challenging targets.

I just wish I could afford to print it out in colour!

I also keep reading ahead :P. Just checked - I'm up to Jul 21!!

When 2008 comes out, why don't we buy a pile of them and save on postage. At US$25, I'd have a colour version.

Now I read, I'm not so sure it is in colour:-

"Printed: 416 pages, 8.5" x 11", perfect binding, black and white interior ink"

The pdf file certainly has colour images.

I'd definitely buy it Erick. That part about the 'black and white interior ink' does read funny though. If you did want to buy it, it would only take a quick email to them to find out for sure.

Hey Erick

Question solved...I had an email back from University Today to say 'Sorry hard cover is black and white only'...Wonder if my boss will notice me churning out colour copy..(laugh)

I do like it though

That answers that question, thanks. I printed it B/W. Yes, I think 400 colour pages printed at my work would be stretching the "foreign orders" to much!

And Rob - well worth the download time!

I downloaded the book and it looks really interesting. Thanks for posting the link. I found this http://bcs.whfreeman.com/universe6e/pages/bcs-main.asp?v=category&s=00110&n=01000&i=01110.03&o=|02000|01000|&ns=0
which contains many animations/videos of astronomical concepts. Some members may find it interesting.

I understand that Tammy has made this daily guide freely available for download for a few years. For 2008, it is now available only as a book for sale. I loved 2007's and wanted 2008's so I've just ordered my copy from Amazon. For US$19.77 plus postage.

Here it is (now only four left in stock since I nabbed one):-

I'll let you know what I think of it later.
