Stacked Images

I bought an Acer Aspire 3053WXMi Notebook running Windows Vista so now I can finally use Deep Sky Stacker ( it wouldn't run on my Win98 system ). Here are some of the results.

I can't remember the details of exposures etc or how many frames stacked, I just did it.

Your stacking has worked very well Steve. they have turned out great.
The images are quite sharp and detailed.

Steve, great imaging and great objects, especially Omega Cent which has excellent crisp stars!

I'm glad Deep Sky Stacker works well for you, I can't get it to stack properly for me, that's why I stick with Registax.

May I suggest running your images through a light Guassian Blur, or 'Remove Space Noise' in 'Photoshop Actions' if you have it. That will clean up the noise in the background (except Omega which hasn't got any noise).

For example, here's how your Trifid comes up using 'Space Noise Reduction'.

Very nicely done Steve. Careful though, the dark side has a very slippery slope. :lol: You will find yourself wanting to spend more and more time outside and will start cursing the moonlight and eventually the daylight. (Said it was the dark side :evil: ) Then the hip pocket will start to drag you towards your internet connection when the nights are cloudy and you will find yourself scanning through dark and mysterious websites with all manner of invaluable imaging goods and accessories that you never knew before that you absolutely have to have to succeed. Of course the more you buy the more clouds and therefore the more you buy. It really is the most vicious twisted circle :lol:

Thanks ..... I like the result of " Space Noise Reduction " is it a plugin for Photoshop. I only have v5.5 and it is not in my actions ?

Thanks guys for your comments ... and YES I'm sure it is addictive. I feel like I have to get outside and redo all my imaging because I threw out a lot of frames from past sessions as I couldn't do any stacking of full frame images from my 350D with Registax and so I only kept the ones that I processed as single shots.

Never mind ... as soon as we get some decent clear skies here ( within the next few days according to the TV ) I'll get out back and see what I can come up with.

Yes Steve, it is in the Noel Carboni Actions set.

You can also do it manually in Photoshop if you can work out all the procedures, but a slight Gaussian Blur will help.

There is also 'Neat Image' to get a great result. They have a free limited version here:
