This is the last image from the weekend of June 22/23, taken at 12.30am on the morning of June 23.

Seeing was not quite as good as the following night, but still very good. This image was taken using a Dragonfly2 mono camera.

Wish I could catch similar quality as this with my modified 12.5" Newtonian.

Still a very beautiful image, Anthony. Are you doing something new with your processing? It has a different "style" to your previous ones from earlier this year. Or is it just a case of the seeing being better?

I asked Anthony the very same question a week or two ago and he said his processing routine hasn't changed.

Not sure why the images are different... the basic processing hasn't changed. Maybe I'm using more frames now than before cause of better seeing, that would decrease the noise a bit more.

I did make an improvement to the capture software a few months ago, splitting off the capture and hard disk writes into separate programs - I found that I could capture faster if I did that, so 1 minute @ 40fps really gives me 2400 good frames now where I was probably getting 1800 frames per minute before.

Can't resist trying different things - so i need to know what you all think about this version compared to the first one...

Differences: preprocessed with experimental image-morphing code before loading into registax, and also different wavelet settings in registax.

Doesn't look as good on my screen compared to the one a few posts ago.

Detail less sharp and darker around the limb. Also looks to have less contrast.

But that's on my screen.

Others may get a different result.

Anthony that last one is definitely alot sharper and more detail noticed than the first one. The Spot/moon/thing to the Left of the GRS is alot sharper and not are smeared. Details in the bands are absolutely awesome. Amazing work.

Different monitors, different results. On my CRT I still prefer your 1st one, Bird.

BTW, great images.

On my 20" Benq LCD the 1st image is the standout one, when I have all 3 open and blink them.

second one is smoother and has less noise but has a tad less contrast, so that's what you might need to boost up
I would say you are on to something with your new processing method.

Well Mr Bird,

I adjusted the levels on the last one to get the contrast the same as the first one.

The last one is less grainy and hence reminds me of the smoothness of mr peach's

Being smoother, I think you have lost some of the really fine detail......

still i had to look really really hard.
