I was woken up lat night by what I though was just the noise from the gale force winds.
Come this morning I realised what woke me was in fact one of the big gum trees near the house crashing down, luckily it missed the house. As it came down it demolished another biggish tree that broke its fall and prevented it from impacting the garage/car and garden fence.

Even better news is that those two trees were number 1 and 2 on my hit list. I now have at least 20% more northerly sky from the back of the house.

Lucky escape for the house

I love having trees around and wouldn't choose to cut ours down, but it is sometimes a concern when storms are around, but that's what insurance is for, I tell myself.

Thanks, its always windy here especially this time of year, over the last couple of years I've lost 4 or 5 trees - other times they have been away from the house.

Ill miss the big gum, its were all the king parrots, lorakeets and cockatoos came to checkout the food situation right outside my bedroom window.

I call this pic "Holding Pattern".

Lucky you, Chris.. I was hoping for a similar experience during the recent gale force winds.. alas they didn't go anywhere. I lose about 40% of my sky thanks to 2 big gum trees blocking my view to the West of Zenith.
