EQ3 RA Shaft Removal?

Anyone know how to remove the large lock ring/nut on the bottom of th RA shaft of an EQ3?

The ring seems to have 2 indentations on it. Get a small punch, and work it anticlockwise until it is loose.

If it's similar to the EQ5, there are set screws that need to be loosened at the side of the ring nut before you can unscrew it. Just make an block of wood with two nails thru it and yes loosen the set screws in the side if they are in there.

Thanks for the help. I'd much rather ask a dumb question than cause damage. There were three set screws that needed to be loosened first. Greased and buffed (where possible) and ready for a clear night.
