I recently moved overseas for work and miss Australia a lot. Recently I've had the idea of watching some web or sky cams in Melbourne and Victoria more broadly, but only found a couple traffic cams (boring) and a couple more random ones showing Sunshine train station and Southbank. Is anyone aware of any more Melb/Vic-based web cams or sky cams (eg like the one at the LMDSS) that can be freely accessed on the internet?

Good question. It’s got me to prioritise me getting around to doing some YouTube live-streaming of some of my cams here in Tamleugh, Victoria. So I’ll do it within a day or so, by the time I’ve tested it. Here is a daytime and night still of one of the cams I have facing south for meteor capture. It’s live video, not interval timed, very sensitive little sensors.

Windy has lots of webcams.

Most are at airfields.

Look for ones that are upwind (southwest) of your observing location to see what's coming your way.

Cloudbase is usually somewhere between 1000 - 3000m altitude so look at the airstream at that level, not the surface.
