Ptolemy Cluster

Messier 7 or M7, also designated NGC 6475 and sometimes known as the Ptolemy Cluster, is an open cluster of stars in the constellation of Scorpius. The cluster is easily detectable with the naked eye, close to the "stinger" of Scorpius. With a declination of −34.8°, it is the southernmost Messier object


Captured 26/6/2025 135x 2min subs processed SIRIL and PS - first attempt at using a flattener/reducer with EON110ED effective F 4.8, however I think my back focus was not corrects as corner stars show elongation

Love this cluster Trevor. It was the first object I was able to "star hop" to when I was a kid. Basically cause it's so close to the stinger! It's a little hard to see but I think your back focus shows that your sensor is a too far back, but it doesn't seem that far off. I like the contrast between blue and yellow stars in your image too.
