Had some nice seeing here tonight and managed to get some reasonable data. This is a preliminary image, but thought you guys here might be interested.

Taken with C9.25, DMK and astronomiks filters 39 seconds in each colour. 340 frames stacked in each colour. Astra image sharpening and recombine, gamma reductions. Unsharp mask.

Not enough frames but I can only get 18 frames per second with this image scale. Cannot wait for my C14 to rock up. Taking deliver of a Skynyx tomorrow so will retire the DMK.

I am pretty pleased with this image. Some lovely detail in all regions. Some speckling in the image.

Europa can be seen almost mid transit and the shadow travelling behind. Red Junior als seen near the bottom of the image.

Great image Paul, glad you got some nice seeing. I prefer the second image, a bit smoother and less grainy. More detail too.

Europa looks very nice.

Is the SkyNyx 640x480 or larger format?

So what's happening with the DMK?????
(Sound of vultures circling)

Nice pics BTW. I assume that these are at native size. I took some on my 8"SCT with a 4x powermate with my Toucam that came up about that size, but I can't seem to get Registax to draw a box around the whole planet so I can align them, any hints?

Cheers
Stuart

Stuart you don't need to draw a box around the whole planet. In fact in most cases, I use smaller 128px boxes and multiple alignment points (usually 3).

I align those boxes on a particular "feature" or on the limbs of the planet.

Thanks guys,

Mike the skynyx is 640 x 480. I cannot find a camera that will go larger format and have 60 fps under 1200 dollars. So this will have to do for now.

Stuart, this is the native size coming out of the barlow and filter wheel. The DMK is probably going to be sold, I have not made any real plans yet in this regard. Mike is correct iun suggesting the 128pix box. You don't need the box going all the way around. You can use multipoint or just one single box. Start with a nice frame though.

Thanks all.

Those are superb images that reveal a lot of intricate detail in the various systems and are very nicely processed. It looks like you’ve really mastered the C9.25 / DMK combo, and maybe squeezed all you can from that set up? Next challenge – C14 eh. Looking forward to the results.

Cheers

Thanks Dennis. You know the trouble with the C9.25 is that is just does not have enough diameter. These images are a little grainy because I am only using 350 frames out of 436 frames captured in 40 seconds. I have the gain up nearly at max and cannot get any more frames. The image scale is the cause of the problem. At a smaller image scale I could capture more frames but then less detail would be showing. So the only alternative is a much larger scope. The SDM is great but it has to go out in an unsecured part of my yard, not good if I want to leave it out there. Other solution is buy a C14. More light, meaning more frames, and ergo smoother looking images. Also more resolution too. I reckon if I was in say Barbados I could get a lot more detail out, but here in Adelaide I need a much larger scope.

Nice work Paul, I envy you guys with your seeing. I have been waiting for half pie decent seeing for a month or so now, and it isn't happening. Good to be able to catch what you are all up to though.
