I just found a site sending out alerts for possible aurora activity in my locale

https://aurorareach.com/checkins

Can anyone suggest a site that sends out alerts?

I hadn't seen that site before mate, nice find.
Haven't got anything I could add to it though by way of alerts.

Hi Leo, try the Glendale App, download to your phone and you get near real time updates on auroral activity, or lack of. Joe Cali on here made me aware of the site, which he uses to get the resulting images that he shares with us.

That site seems to be a random collection of reports all over the world.

The Glendale App is favoured by most people on the aurora chase groups and forums. It takes a bit of time to understand. If you give it access to your location in your smartphone, it feeds you magnetometer readings from the nearest public feed magnetometer to your location in real time. You can set up audible alerts. Since I started using that app in May last year, I have caught something like 10 events.

You won't find it on the app store. It's a web app and operates via the browser on your phone. It's amazing because it covers observers anywhere in the world. This is my primary source of real time information.

When a really bright event like last Sunday occurs, it sometimes falls over due to the weight of traffic. My argument is there is so much publicity about those events, you don't need the apps. But I have used it to catch many of the unexpected events.
