Hi Everyone

This is a 20hour mosaic of the Large Magellenic Cloud - my first tracked mosaic done over a period of 5 months.

As this is a large image, compression will have taken a lot out of the image so the full res image and gear details can be found here:
https://app.astrobin.com/i/i8mgbf

For platesolved crop-ins, see below:

Hope you enjoyed this image!

Nic picture Shiv,
that was worth the effort.

Pictures of the LMC always beg the question -
what would our Milky Way and the LMC and SMC look like from far away -
perhaps from a distant galaxy?

Well the answer is here:
https://cdn.sci.news/images/enlarge5/image_6788e-Milky-Way-Magellanic-Clouds.jpg

Explanation here:
https://www.sci.news/astronomy/large-magellanic-cloud-milky-way-collision-06788.html

It's remarkable that the LMC is quite large -
about 10% the size of the Milky Way and so we actually live
in a triple galaxy system.

cheers
Allan

Great work Shiv. You’ve captured the very dense star field across the core of the galaxy and surrounding dust and smatterings of Ha. Well worth the capture time and processing effort
