GDay all.
NGC 1566, also known as the Spanish Dancer Galaxy, is a spiral galaxy about 70 million light-years away in the constellation Dorado. It gets its nickname because its spiral arms look like the flowing skirt of a dancer mid-twirl. It also has an active core powered by a supermassive black hole. It is one of the brightest Seyfert galaxies out there, meaning its centre shines extra bright thanks to all the energetic activity going on near that black hole. Thanks Trevor. That galaxy needed to be a tad closer to where I live.
