View Full Version here: : Space Odyssey
We've just recently signed up to BigPond Movies.
I must say that so far it has been quite good.
Anyway, have just finished watching Space Odyssey - Voyage To The Planets and it wasn't too bad at all.
It's a BBC series. I don't know if it was shown here on free-to-air, but it's worth a look.
Nothing too in-depth or challenging, but a good experience nonetheless.
The visuals are very well done. I really enjoyed the visits to Venus and Pluto:)

Hi Matt
Thanks for the heads up - do you have to be on Big Pond Broad band to subscribe? We are on Optus Broad band and I was wondering if it was a Big Pond only thing?
Cheers
Dennis
Hi Dennis.
Anyone can subscribe.
I think BigPond members get their movies at a slightly discounted price.
You can get your movies either as download or as we do, as DVDs in the mail:)

Thanks Matt - I might investigate the on-line delivery method, for those cloudy nights.
Cheers

It's great system. I am doing it and then un-subscribing at the end of the one month trail period. You must un-subscribe by telephone. This is what my friends are doing. Easy.

Watched it recently and it was good. The atmospheric effects on Venus were great, and very close to what it may look like. The view from Saturn's Rings was also stunning. My only minor niggle is that it was a bit too over dramatic, as something always seemed to go wrong on every planet they landed on (out came the spooky horror music on cue), but this may be because the Beeb needed to appeal to a wider audience.
Hi PeteMo:hi:
Yeah, I know what you mean.
It did became a little predictable, but it also served as a device to demonstrate the particular dangers and possible disasters waiting at each stage of the mission. So, I guess it was bearable, if a little twee:)

FYI all: "Space Odyssey - Voyage to the Planets" is back on Fox right now. Not bad at all. Quite convincing and way better than the Disco Channel's style of presentation.

I love the way they talk to "Earth" in real time;)

LOL! Actually..you might have missed the part that explained that they don't. At Jupiter they had an 89-minute delay, but for the exercise they'd "cut it out".
There we go... typical Aussie - pick, pick, pick!:lol:
