A minor auroral event last night.
Short-lived at the civilised time 1030-1100pm.
A weak Bz field (-600nT) combined with a 700km/s solar wind.

Still stunning to see as always Joe.
I was looking forward to the clearest skies we've had this year yesterday with intention of taking a camera out (no moonlight) but hazard reduction burning locally saw the sky filled with smoke and one of the hottest summer days we've had turn to every door and window in the house shut so my son and I didn't choke, smoke messes us both up.

Hi Leo,
Ironic that you had smoke. Last night was one of the least smoky highest transparency nights I've seen these past few months.
Six more weeks then the fire season will end mid-April and fire bans lifted. The sky will then be choked with smoke for weeks after that.

Hang in there mate. I have friends who live on the east face of Mt Tamborine. They've been without power since last Friday. No word on when it will be restored.
Hope you're in better shape.
cheers
