Hi

Ha sun from Melbourne this afternoon.

Imaged with a home made spectroheliograph and 100mm f/9 ED refractor.
Best 14 of 32 reconstructed scans selected and stacked in AutoStakkert3!
Sharpened in Astrosurface.

Seeling was only average for these data.

Now that I've has some first hand experience in using a SHG, the
appreciation of just how much craftsmanship is required to produce
a SHG image like this is significant.

Wonderful stuff

My new QHY IMX678 based camera arrived today.....if it produces data that is
of similar calibre (i.e. awesome ) I'll be over the moon. :)

Again, excellent stuff Maurice. :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Excellent image Maurice, I really like the way that the spectoheliograph contrasts the filaments and active areas.

Thanks Peter..
I've just seen your most recent SHG effort & it looks great.
You have taken leaps forward in just a few days.. well done.

Cheers Jeff.

The contrast is due to the extremely narrow wavelength range sampled by the SHG. With a 2400l/mm grating and say a 200mm fl collimating lens its about 0.05A/pixel. Far narrower than your average Etalon offers..
