Does anyone know if acculap is available in Australia?
Postage from the states is appalling.

I’m aftraid everyone I know gets it from the US, usually from Gotgrit.com.

I agree US postage makes many of their products too expensive. Pitch is cheaper and works just as well but not as clean to work with.

One option might be for a few of us to make a purchase and share postage. I might be interested in that.

Acculap is not much good for faster aspherics , as it doesn't really flow well or at least the stuff I tried didn't . If the channels aren't closing up the lap isn't flowing .

Its popular in industry for machine polishing spheres.

When you say expensive , how much per kg are you talking landed in Aus for Acculap ? .

I have a fair bit of Tivoli Coronapech german pitch ex CSIRO , I will probably never get through , I could part some but you would need to be comfortable with adjusting hardness by adding some rosin to harden . Its probably similar to a Gugolz 55 in it's current state .

$16.5 for the acculap and $44.16 US dollars for 1/3 Kg.
I need enough for 2x 12" f6 spherical mirrors.
My current weird pitch is too soft and starts scratching as the polish forms so I thought I would try the acculap with new cerium etc.
Hi Rod I would be interested.
I think I need a hard version as average temps here are around 30'C

I have two tubs of intermediate Aculap. I prefer soft. Perhaps Mark could comment on whether intermediate grade would be appropriate for your needs. Sounds like it might.

We could do a deal and I sell you my harder anculap and then I purchase what I want from the US? Where are you getting Aculap for 16.50? Gotgrit charges around $24 US.

Rod.
