Twas a Morning in late January on the Ne Nsw coast where most clouds had parted,,
Where this aging duck with standard tripod and Dslr in the dark he got started.
Where the air was salty and the view was strained,
But with many exposures a scene was gained.

So nearing 4am Nsw DST time or near 3am Qld Eastern Time, Scorpio region along with Sagittarius rising creating the body of 'ol mate Emu being an iconic Aussie Cultural symbol

Image stats being 10 x 13 secs, iso 5,000, Sigma Art 20mm F1.4 @ 1.6, Manual WB set to 4,400 Kelvin on the Canon 6D Mark II.
Hope worth the squizz ...

Lovely crisp image Bob and I see why people like the Sigma art lenses.
Now I want to photograph the Milky Way again, it's always been a favourite target because I've always said it's the most stunning view from earth with the naked eye. This time I'll be using an Astro-trac but it's still a Samyang/Rokinon 14mm f2.8 which aren't a bad lens (especially for the price, non AE) but I'd love to try the Sigma Art 14mm one day.

Thanx Leo, yes I found the 20 had very good reviews etc, very happy with it and it fits the emu real good on the horizon.

I haven't had the pleasure of a fast 14 of any kind but I often think what are like at the extreme edges, and wonder if they have the lens technology to keep the stars reasonably good out to the edge, if so, then you'd expect there be absolutely no problem with edge distortion in a 20, but - there is some ?
So I have to crop a smidge which is no problem, but how far out is a 14 producing pin stars from the center, 80% the way out, 85, 90, 95% the way out, just curious anyway so doesn't matter, they do however produce an awesome field and with Programmed Lens correction etc make their images quite a treat,

I dont have such upto-date progs anyway but I'm happy with what I have,,
Cheers ..
